Clara Marie Dossett

91, of LaMesa, California, formerly of Charlotte, died, Friday, June 1, 2001. Mrs. Dossett was born August 14, 1909, in Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of John and Zora (Gidner) Holmes. She was a secretary for Civil Service in the San Diego County Health Department for approximately 30 years. She is survived by brothers Kenneth Holmes of Lansing, Wayne Holmes of Ridgewood, New Jersey, sisters Irene Hart of Fullerton, California, and Gladys Coats of Charlotte, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest in 1934, brother Ivan Holmes and sister Della DuBois. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Marvin J. Nelson

96, of Charlotte, Michigan, died June 2, 2001. Marvin was born December 19, 1904, in Sidney Township, Montcalm County, Michigan, the son of Albert and Marie (Pedersen) Nelson. He attended Muskrat Country School, Greenville High School, and graduated from Sheridan High School. He also attended Ferris Institute. He married Hazel (Eriksen) on June 25, 1929. He was County Abstractor of the Montcalm County Abstract office in Stanton for 25 years before purchasing the Eaton County Abstract Company in Charlotte in 1947. He was joined in partnership by his son in 1958 and sold the business in 1986 to First American Title Company. He and Hazel moved to Independence Village in Grand Ledge in 1999. He has held memberships in Michigan Land Title Association, American Land Title Association, Charlotte Lion's Club, Charlotte Yacht Club, Michigan Tree Farmer's Association, and was a Lifetime Mason. He was also active in Boy Scouting. He and Hazel were Charter members of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as Treasurer for many years. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Hazel, son, Roger (Jane) Nelson of Duck Lake, daughter, Jeanette (Fred) Kogge of Hastings, grandchildren, Steven (Sumire) Kogge, Scott (Rose) Kogge, Sandra (Gary) Ragan, Stuart (Kathie) Kogge, Michael (Kathleen) Nelson, Judy (Matthew) Wineinger, Robin Nelson, step-grandchildren, Sarah and Sam Kellogg, Andrea and Derek King and, great-grandchildren, Lauren Kogge, Katherine and Erik Ragan, Kyle and Connor Kogge, Abby and Megan Wineinger and Olivia Nelson, sister Evelyn Strobridge of Greenville, sister-in-laws Frances Eriksen of Grand Rapids, Erma Sheaha of Santa Barbara, CA and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Arnold (Donna) Nelson and Clifford (Leona) Nelson, bothers-in-law Elmer Strobridge, Peter Sheaha and Lester Eriksen. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Noel Hall-Neimann officiating. Interment 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at South Sidney Cemetery in Montcalm County. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Pray Funeral Home. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Hayes Green Beach Hospital.

Donald H. Peterson

76, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, June 3, 2001. Mr. Peterson was born April 3, 1925 in Lincoln Park, MI the son of George and Mable (Hubbard) Peterson. He was an electrician for Ford and G.M. for many years. He was a retired member of the UAW and DAV, and 3rd Armored Division. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He is survived by his wife Marie Louise (Zenner), daughters Marie Ann (Brian) Callahan of Boston and Michelle Kay Peterson of Charlotte, grandchildren Shane, Kendra and Brian Jarret. A scripture service will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001 with visitation from 4 - 6 p.m. before the service at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Eaton County Humane Society.

Lynn "Bud" Miller

83 of Eaton Rapids, died June 3, 2001. Mr. Miller was born April 24, 1918 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Gordon and Hazel (Oberlin) Miller. He is survived by daughter Jean Riley of Killeen, Texas, sons Douglas (Sara) Miller of Covington, Georgia; Richard Miller of Rockledge, Florida; step-daughter Betty Wainright of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Ernestine in January 2000. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 8 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.

Linda S. Lovejoy

age 50 of Grand Ledge, died June 6, 2001. Linda was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on November 29, 1950, the daughter of Luther and Winnie (Bottoms) Hill. She is survived by two sons, Mickel Carmoney, Brian Carmoney-Shive, and a daughter Pam, 4 grandchildren, three brothers James, Donald, and Wendell Hill and her sister, Billie Hughes. Today she rejoins her two sons, Robert and Tommy who preceded her in death.

Bonnie Mae (King) Ohm

age 59 of Nashville, Michigan died June 7, 2001 at Kalamazoo. She was born in Charlotte, April 22, 1942 the daughter of Ward Beecher and Gladys Irene (Disbrow) King. She was an Underwriter for Century Mutual Insurance and an Underwriter Trainer for Auto Owners Insurance Co. Bonnie was a graduate of the Vermontville High School class of 1960 and served as class secretary, and active alumnus. She is survived by her husband Richard, two sons Kevin Ohm of Kalamazoo, Aaron Ohm of Nashville, sister Diane (Bob) Stoddard of Kalamazoo Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 11, 2001 at 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Charlotte with the Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Saturday 2-4 & Sunday 5-8 P.M. at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Dorene Pratt

81 of Charlotte, Michigan, died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at the Moore's Adult Foster Care Home after a long illness. Mrs. Pratt was born August 21, 1919 in Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of Leland and Zella Loveland. Mrs. Pratt worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for the A & P Stores, enjoyed sewing for her family, crafts, and traveling. She enjoyed her home on the lake in Cadillac. She is survived by daughters Brenda (Jerry) Heisler of Olivet, Linda (William) Newland of Bellevue, 4 grandchildren, brother Dale Loveland of Lake Odessa, sisters Theda Devenbaugh of Charlotte, Fran Carpenter of Potterville, Lois Thompson of Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 infant children, and brothers Don Loveland and Eugene (Dutch) Loveland. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Monday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Charlotte 4H Sewing Club. Cordelia I. Callahan

93 of Charlotte, formerly of Texas, died Monday June 11, 2001. Mrs. Callahan was born January 14, 1908 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Irvin) Cole. She was a home health care worker with UpJohn and had been a lifelong member of the Southside Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. She is survived by son Tim (Shirley) Callahan of Perry, 3 grandchildren, Sterling (Theresa) Jennings, Timothy Patrick and Gregory Scott (Kim) Anderson, 4 great grandchildren, Cody and MacKenzie Callahan, Nicholas and Morgan Anderson. She was preceded in death by daughter Patricia Joann. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Visitation will be noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the funeral. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Agnes Campbell

95 of Charlotte, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001. Miss Campbell was born October 14, 1905 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Sam and Alta May (Canaday) Campbell. Miss Campbell attended business college in Urbana, and owned Campbell's Grocery in Champaign, Illinois. Following that she was on staff at the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music, and later served on the staff of Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange Wyoming. She finished her missionary career with the Child Evangelism Fellowship in Montana. She was currently a member of the Chester Gospel Church of Charlotte. She is survived by her nieces Phyllis (Harold) Smuts of Charlotte and Barbara (H. Albert) Sundberg of Indian River, and her nephew Lawrence (Beverly) Campbell of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Samuel Clifford, Clarence, and Ralph. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. H. Albert Sundberg officiating. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Thursday at the Pray Funeral Home. Louis Francis Mosier

85, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Monday, June 11, 2001. Mr. Mosier was born February 13, 1916, in Vermontville, Michigan the son of Lynn and Mary (Arntz) Mosier. He was a Layout Inspector for Oldsmobile before retiring in 1977 and had farmed most of his life in the Eaton County area. He was a member and Past Master of the Potterville Masonic Lodge #367 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #413. He is survived son Lynned Mosier of Charlotte, daughters Kim (Mark) LaCount of Charlotte, Linda (Steve) Donley of Potterville, Sibyl (Mike) Moreno of Charlotte, Suzan Woodhams of Potterville, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Barbara Ward of Potterville. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Riedl) in 1996. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at Pray Funeral Home. Jerome "Jerry" Dennis Boardman

55, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001. Mr. Boardman was born January 2, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Jerome Vincent and Evelyn Agnes (Reid) Boardman. Jerry has been an inspiration to many of those he has been in contact with by the way he has approached his illness. Some have said that Jerry "has taught us all how to die." He concentrated on living each day in the best possible way and with the thought that what really matters is relationships with family and friends. He was the Director of Special Education for Haslett Public Schools before retiring in June of 2000. He assisted students with special needs for 26 years: his whole career was in special education. He was former President of the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education (MAASE). He also held a private pilots license. He is survived by his wife Nancy (Balint), daughter Kristin, son Jeremy and sister Gail and her husband, Larry Goldman, four nieces, two nephews, and two grand nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday 6-8 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Dr. Diane McDonald's Clinic Trials Office Fund c/o Sparrow Health System or the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

age 70 of Charlotte, died June 16,2001 at Ingham Medical Hospital. Mrs. French was born in Eaton County, the daughter of George B. and Mary Ethel (Andrews) Hall. She is survived by daughters Charlotte (Tom) Donaldson of Scottville, Mary E. (Norman) Stadel of Bellevue, Georgia Farr of Charlotte, Ruth French of Onondaga, Wilma (Dan) Ketchum of Linden; sons Charles French of Onondaga, Martin (Lisa) French of Charlotte, Richard (Monica) French of Marshall, William (Kim) French Jr. of Onondaga, 40 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, brother George Z. Hall of Charlotte, sister Pauline Bruce of Kalkaska and several nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her parents; former husband William Sr.; sister Mary (Leonard) French; and grandchildren John Pontz, and Tom Van Horn and Beloved Friend Homer Bryant. The family will receive visitors from 3-5 and 7-9 Tuesday at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday June 20, 2001 at the Pray Funeral Home. Age 70, Died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at the Mercy Medical Facility in Daphne, Ala. She was a native of Dansville, Mi and a resident of Summerdale, Al. Mrs. Livingston is survived by 4 daughters: Wanda Kay (Steve) Lahr of Duck Lake, Mi, Janet Lee Kruskamp of Clair, Mi., Dawn Annette (James) Collier of Sumerdale, Al., April Gay Livingston of Robertsdale, Al; 4 sons; Robert L.V. Livingston of Hastings, Mi., Melvin W. (Beth) Gleason of Dansville, Mi., Olin Edmund Gleason of Colorado Springs, Co., Timothy D. Livingston of Foley, Al., 2 sisters : Martha Garred of Jackson, Mi., Jessie Hollister of Jackson, Mi. and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00- 2:30 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Mi. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 22nd at Center Eaton Cemetery, Charlotte, Michigan.

Delbert "Jack" Oliver Boyce

67, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, June 17, 2001. Mr. Boyce was born October 13, 1933, in Detroit, MI., the son of Oliver and Dorothy (Mason) Boyce. He was a machine operator for Oldsmobile before his retirement in 1989. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons David and Richard of New York, Brian of Houston, Texas, daughters Dorena O'Dell of New York, Belinda Bowler of Seattle, Washington, and step-son Jerrold Llewellyn of Killeen, Texas, many grandchildren, sisters Doreene Stahlin and Patricia Sears of Lansing, brothers Gary Boyce of Lansing and Leroy Boyce of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Belica Boyce in 1988. Graveside services will be at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

J. Ernest "Mitch" Mitchell

83, of Charlotte, Michigan, died June 18, 2001. Mr. Mitchell was born September 5, 1917, in Littleton, Colorado, the son of J. Ernest and Nellie (Gill) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell worked at Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. During World War II he worked on the synthetic rubber program, then served in the Physical Research Lab. He was assistant manager of the Plastics Department, and then served with Economic Evaluation. He had also been General Manager of Inorganics and Solvents and then was the Director of Functional Materials and retired as Director of Corporate Planning in 1981. He served as President of the Dow Foundation for six years. In 1968, he was selected as an outstanding engineering alumnus of the University of Denver and was listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry. He served on the Midland Planning Commission, and was a member of St. John Episcopal Church of Midland, the Midland Country Club, the Lakes Club of Sun City, Arizona, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, numerous scientific and business publications and the Midland Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty, son John Mitchell of Lansing, daughter Shirley Potts of Sun City, Arizona, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Herald Chester Graham

84 of Charlotte, Michigan, died June 22, 2001. Mr. Graham was born October 14, 1916, in Nashville, Michigan, the son of Seth and Alice (Graves) Graham. He was a machine operator for Motor Wheel and a farmer. He also served in the Air Corps during WW II. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Rounds), son Darian Graham of Charlotte, daughters Alicia (Don) Haynes and Terrie (Mike) Ramsey of Lexington, North Carolina, son Kal (Tiera) Graham of Grand Ledge, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, half-sister Mary Wanda Hamblin of Sparta, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by daughter Michelle Marple, brother Wallace Graham, sister Cora Teeple and half-brother Richard. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Jeffrey Bowman officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Norma Louise Smith Gaut

87, of Charlotte, Michigan died Saturday, June 23, 2001. Mrs. Gaut was born April 16, 1914, in Kalamo Township, Michigan the daughter of Rue and Hortense (Kelley) Swift. She was a cafeteria worker for Charlotte High School. 82 of Potterville, died Friday, June 22, 2001 in Charlotte, Michigan. Mr. Patterson was born July 9, 1918, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Guy and Alyida (Jasperse) Patterson. He was employed by Michigan Bell in 1940 as a repair technician and retired in 1975. He farmed for over 20 years, and had also managed the Country Club Manor. Jay was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Past-President of the Ionia Hunting and Fishing Club and a former member of the Ionia Sheriff Posse. Surviving are his wife Marilyn, daughter Marcia (Carl) Rickert of Saranac, son Bruce Patterson of Ionia, step-children Janet (Tim) Denton, Jane (Tom) Clegg of Charlotte, Donald (Janet) Warner, Jr. of Plymouth, Candice (Jerry) Soldan of Grand Ledge, Tim (Nancy) Warner of Eaton Rapids, 5 grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren and many step great grandchildren. David C. Lyons

67, of Charlotte, Michigan, went to be with his Lord on July 1, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 20, 1933 to John J. and Helen B. Lyons. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a journeyman plasterer, served as an Ingham County Sheriff's Deputy and retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation after 33 years. He was also a former member of the Michigan National Guard and the Eaton County 4-H Fair Board. He earned his solo pilots license in 1996. age 29, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan died Saturday, August 11, 2001 a result of a motorcycle accident. He worked in the Technical and Facilities Maintenance Department, College of Veterinarian Medicine at Michigan State University. Hobbies included playing cards with her friends and Janette was a former member of the Laugh-A-Lot Club. 87, of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away August 27, 2001, at Sparrow Hospital after a brief but difficult illness. She was born June 9, 1914 to Ben and Sarah (Taylor) Butler and they preceded her in death, along with brothers Bill, Phil, Tom and sister Marion (Bill) Wright. Richard, her beloved husband and best friend of 39 years, also preceded her in death in March 2000, and they are surely together again. Surviving is their son Randy (Adele) King of Pinckney, Michigan, granddaughters Michelle (Brooke) Plantz of Ann Arbor,MI; Stephanie King of Jenison, MI; sisters-in-law Elaine (Bill) Butler of Grand Ledge, Wanda (Phil) Butler of Lansing and Myrtle (Paul) King of Glendale, AZ; nieces and nephews including Vivian (Donald) Schultz and Connie (Jim) Garrison of Charlotte; many great nieces and nephews including Rachael (Scott) McLane; Andrea Ostrander and Cana Garrison. She enjoyed a very active life including deer hunting, turkey hunting, fishing, boating, playing cards, gardening, canning and spending time with her many wonderful friends and relatives. She was a dynamic person and will be missed very much by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In her younger days, she was an avid bowler and worked in the health care field in Detroit, MI. She and her husband also owned King's Bar in Dexter, MI for 21 years. 84, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Monday, August 27, 2001. Mr. Robins was born April 28, 1917, Chester Township, Michigan, the son of James S. and Alfaretta H. (Smith) Robins. He was a Sergeant of Battery B 232nd Field Artillery Battalion in the Army during WWII. He worked as a Tool and Die maker for Aluminum Extrusion after 27 years and raised rabbits to sell and for research. He was also a member of the IOOF for 64 years, VFW Post #2406 and American Legion Post #42. He is survived by brothers Royal (Jennie) Robins of Harrison, Amos (Bernadine) Robins of Charlotte, sisters Edna McDermid and Esther Wyble of Charlotte, 2 grandsons James and Matthew Robins, step-granddaughter Melissa (James) Falk and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 1982, son Lawrence Robins April 29, 2001 and sister Mable in 1975. Robert Edward Spotts

77 of Charlotte, Michigan, formerly of Montague, died Friday, August 31, 2001 at the St. Lawrence Dimondale Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Spotts was born August 10, 1924 in Charlotte, the son of Ray and Gladys (Casler) Spotts. He was the owner and operator of Insty Prints in Muskegon until he retired in 1994. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Charlotte, the Brookfield Masonic Lodge, Maple City VFW Post 2406 and the American Legion Post #42 in Charlotte. Mr. Spotts served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. His survivors include sons Randy of Charlotte, Brad (Carey) of Florida, daughter Cindy (Steve) Lowing of Muskegon, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and sister, Velma (Harold) Dingman of Bellevue. His wife Carol (Stratton) preceded him in death in August 30, 1995. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. Carol Spangenberg officiating. 85 of Charlotte, Michigan, died Saturday, September 8, 2001. Mrs. Bowser was born July 15, 1916 in Vermontville, Michigan, the daughter of Oscar and Ida Bell (Wells) Stevens. She was an upholsterer with the Charlotte Chair Company and a member of the West Carmel Congregational Church. She enjoyed her family and their activities, crossword puzzles, and gardening. She liked the senior citizen dinners in Charlotte and Olivet and especially loved her trips up north to the shack in Onaway. She is survived by daughters Sandra (John) Rollins of Marshall, Cheryl (Verlin) Franks of Olivet, son Ronald (Virginia) Bowser of Olivet, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters Eloise Thompson of Charlotte, Maxine (Zack) Beard of Battle Creek brother Merlin (Martha) Stevens of Sun City, Arizona, and sister-in-law Donis Barnett of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and sisters Marguerite Bunce and Doris Ranshaw, brothers Murray and Hubert Stevens. 85 of Charlotte, Michigan, died September 16, 2001. He was born April 18, 1916 in Isabella County, Michigan, the son of Clarence A. and Julia May (Ingersoll) Good. He had immense compassion for his family and took care of his wife for the last five years. He was a very honest man with a fantastic sense of humor, loved fishing on Lacy Lake and playing shuffleboard and his love of travel took him to every state except Hawaii and Alaska. Mr. Good was a retired truck driver for the Dana Corporation. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Inez (Breidinger), sons Gayland D. Good of Charlotte, Edward Lee, and Ivan L. Good of Lansing, Loren A. Evans of Muncie, Indiana; daughters Evelyn (Harry) Carpenter of Charlotte, Lydia (James) Baker of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brothers James Good of Zephyr Hills, Florida, Paul Good of Charlotte, 34 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Clifford W. Good and Ardnold Good, and by brother Ira Good. He was predeceased by his father Neil and brother Beryl Coon, Duane was a driver for General Motors Company until his retirement in 1998. He was a 1978 graduate of Charlotte High School and lived most of his life in Charlotte and Potterville. He is a retiree from General Motors. He worked at Wilcox Gay and was a Pinkerton security guard at Owen Illinois, a member of the Crossroads Church of the United Brethren for over 50 years, and he especially enjoyed hunting with the rest of the family. Mrs. Pease attended the Kalamo United Methodist Church and was a 50 year life member and Past Matron of the Kalamo O.E.S, Chapter 399. She was Past President of the Eaton County Association O.E.S., a member of the Association for Retarded Children, and a board member of the EBI Breakthrough. She was Valedictorian of the Bellevue High School Class of 1943 and graduated from Western Michigan University. Mrs. Pease taught school at Portland and Vermontville Schools, Myers Country School and was a substitute teacher for many years. She is survived by her husband Edward, daughters Carolyn (Gary) LaCross, Cheryl Pease, Christine Pease, grandchildren Jason LaCross (fiance Melissa Kleeman and her son Tray Hammer), Jill (Adam) Potter, sister Joyce (Bernard) Otto and several nieces and nephews. A sister Eldora Anderson, preceded her in death in 1975. She was President of Eagles Auxiliary Arie #3552 of Charlotte, District Treasurer of Eagles Auxiliary District #11 and Past District President. She enjoyed arts and crafts as a hobby. 74 of Marshall, Michigan, died Thursday, October 25, 2001. Mrs. Troll was born May 23, 1927 in Wagner, South Dakota, the daughter of Karl and Anna (Verba) Brodsky. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Lee Hustler's Extension Club and had worked as a substitute worker at Olivet Community Schools. She loved birds, doing crosswords, working with flowers, cross stitching and her family and friends. She also loved her Czech Polka music. She is survived by her husband Winfred, sons Leonard E. of Marshall, twins John of Charlotte, and James of Metamora, Mark of Olivet, daughter Jean A. 71, of Mason, Michigan, died Sunday, October 28, 2001, in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Zimmerman was born July 12, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd J. and Charlotte L. (Williams) Smith. She had been employed by Dart Container Corporation for 36 years. She especially loved her family, dancing and work. Viola Irene Papoi

88 of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, October 28, 2001. Mrs. Papoi was born June 25, 1913 in Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Sena (Peterson) Horn. She worked with her husband at Papoi Automotive Service for many years and had also worked at Wilcox Gay, Heyfeitz Manufacturing. She enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo. She is survived by sons, Robert A. Papoi of Gadsden, Alabama; Michael (Peggy) Papoi of Charlotte, daughter Jeanette Brondstetter of Mt. Pleasant, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Tony in January, 1992. Kathleen Ella Couke

of Charlotte, MI was born June 7, 1916 in Chester Township, Eaton County, Michigan the daughter of Dennis and Clinda (Lamie) McCormick and passed away October 28, 2001 at age 85. She attended the Hubbard School, graduated from Charlotte High School, Western Michigan University in 1938, and did graduate work from the University of Michigan. Kathleen taught elementary grades in Jackson and Alma before retiring from the Charlotte Schools. In June 1940 she married Arthur Couke of Grand Blanc and Jackson, an experimental engineer who passed away in 1989. It was a great joy to her to work with children in school and church. She received a State of Michigan License to organize and be a supervisor of a Day Care Center in her church where she also taught Sunday School for years. She had a talent for writing skits and plays to present to the public. During her lifetime Kathleen was a member of the First Congregational Church, Mary Martha Circle, Women's Club, Care, Salvation Army Board, Upsilon Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a Golden Key Member of the Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital and its Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of teacher groups, MARSP and treasurer of ECARSP for Eaton County. She was a community volunteer in other areas. She is survived by daughter Amy Couke and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred Mae Towe

91, of Charlotte, died November 1, 2001. Mrs. Towe was born December 17, 1909 in Roxand Township of Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of Bert and Laura (Allen) Taylor. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints and a Red Cross Volunteer for over 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for grandchildren and earned her G.E.D. at 75 years of age. She is survived by son Larry (Charlotte) Towe of Charlotte, daughter-in-law Pat Towe, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grand children, 2 great great grand children, brother Lehman Taylor of Arizona, sister Marion Peabody of Arizona, several nieces and nephews. Christopher Eugene Mullen

18, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Friday, November 2, 2001. Christopher was born December 22, 1982, in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 2001 and was a member of the National Honor Society and National Vocational Honor Society and had been awarded an acedemic scholarship to Ferris State University. He was a member of the Mid Michigan Roller Hockey Association and the Douglas J. Phantoms. He was also a Black Belt in TaeKwonDo. He is survived by his father Patrick Mullen, mother Debra (Foote) Mullen, sister Erin Mullen, step-father Martin Comer, maternal grandfather Eugene Foote and paternal grandmother Betty Mullen. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Jackie Foote and paternal grandfather Eugene Mullen. Richard Albin Fast

"The Old Soldier", loving dad, brother and friend to many, left this life in the presence of those who returned his love. His battle is over. His struggles are finished. His faith has carried him home.
The son of Albin G. Fast and Helen (Brooks) Fast, was born January 30, 1933 in Charlotte, Michigan. Richard, commonly known as Dick, graduated from Charlotte High School in 1951. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Homer Brooks, and father, Albin Fast, he apprenticed in the Masonry Trade, receiving his Journeyman's card in the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Dick was an accomplished and master stone and brick mason, a craftsman who took pride and perfection in his work. In May, 2001, Dick was recognized for fifty years of service to his trade. He was founder and co-owner of Fast Masonry Systems; a masonry support supply company, that sold the product invented and patented by himself in his early retirement years. Dick loved to travel and his adventures often led him to Florida, Texas and New Mexico. He was also a long time member of Eagles Aerie 3552 of Charlotte. His family, his friends, and his puppy dogs were the heart of his life.
He leaves behind his "girls", daughters Sherri (Randy) Crandell, Micki Smith, Kim Fast and Tracy Symonds. Grandchildren: Chad, Nicole, Jeromi, Jared, Tyler, Kate, Ryan, and Emily. Great-Grandchildren: Natalie, Cole, Evan and Nolan. Brothers: Dennis (Sandy) Fast and Doug (Missy) Fast. Childhood partners in crime and lifetime friends: Darrell Hicks and Ken Sherman. Smith, Arkansas, 3 grandchildren Cory, Becky and Heath, great granddaughter Kalie Ann Marie Rahe, brother Lyle (Barbara) Sumerix of Buchanan, MI and sister Marilyn (Charles) Rutter of Olivet, MI, sister-in-law Joan Sumerix of S.C. and brother-in-law Harold Ross of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband Zack Morgan in 1978, sister Betty Ross and brother Harry Sumerix.

72, of Olivet, died Friday, November 9, 2001. Mrs. Fuller was born April 28, 1929 in Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Tripp) Cooper. She was a "Grandma" to just about everyone and enjoyed baking and cooking. She is survived by sons Tim Nelson (Debra) Snow of Olivet, Jerry R. (Valerie) Snow of Springport, Theodore H. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, son Chuckie, and brother James A. Cooper. William Joseph Ackley

44 of Haslett, formerly of Lansing, died Monday, November 12, 2001 after a long and valiant struggle with diabetes. Mr. Ackley was born February 17, 1957 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Harry and Jessie (Grandmason) Ackley. He was a press operator for Eaton Technologies in Eaton Rapids, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to play the guitar. James Bartholomew "Jimmy" Roher

of Charlotte died Thursday Nov. 22, 2001 from complications of a lengthy illness at the age of 22. Jimmy was born March 15, 1979 in Lansing, the son of James M. and Bonnie J. (Warner) Roher. He was a student at Meadowview School in Charlotte, and attended First Assembly of God Church of Greater Lansing with his family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons Jason Henry and Steven Eugene, 3 brothers Clarence, Richard and Eston Kilgore and sister Betty Starkweather. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Francis officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Clyde Ward Cooper

90, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Saturday, December 15, 2001. Mr. Cooper was born April 24, 1911 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of John R. and Clara M. (Ward) Cooper. He worked for Charlotte Auto Parts, was a cabinet maker for Charlotte Chair Company until his retirement in 1973 and was a long time member of the First Congregational Church. He especially enjoyed his horses and ponies and was involved with the Eaton County 4-H Fair for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Gracelynna "Sally" (Ryan) Cooper, son Robert of Charlotte, daughters Barbara (David) Lahr of Charlotte, Joyce (Bill) Gavaldon of Potterville, 7 grandchildren, Jon, Joe, and Jim Pell, Derric and Darrin Harmon, Deena (Dan) Mahoney, Ryan Cooper, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Rosa Potter of Charlotte and Helen Campbell of Florida. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Pat Sterling officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Sunday and Monday 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church U.C.C. or Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital.

Jimmy Hill

64, of Vermontville, Michigan, died Monday, December 17, 2001. Mr. Hill was born May 21, 1937, in Paris, Kentucky, the son of Robert and Marjorie (Rose) Hill. He was an electrician. He is survived by son Wesley Hill of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, brothers Ray (Vickie) Hill, Marion Hill, Terry Hill, Tony Hill, and 3 grandchildren Jenni, Larry and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Wicker) Hill in 1999. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Visitation will be Friday 7-9 PM. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville, Michigan.

Helen May Kenefick

92, of Charlotte, Michigan formerly of Detroit, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001. Mrs. Kenefick was born July 8, 1909, in Chelsea, Massachusets the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Mienhardt) Mundt. She retired as a clerk from F.W. Woolworth Company. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Frank Kenefick, son Frank Kenefick of Peoria, Arizona and daughter of Judy Telfer of Charlotte, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers Fred, Gus, Harold, Frank and Herbert Mundt and sister Hazel Hunter. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2001 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. Noel R. Hall-Niemann officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Thursday 4 - 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Lindene Ellen Randall

of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, December 20, 2001. Miss. Randall was born August 3, 1954 in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Ion and Margery (Cole) Randall. She graduated from Charlotte High School, Ferris State School of Pharmacy and Cooley Law School and was the Office Manager for the Clean Water Action Group of Lansing for 10 years. She is survived by her mother Margery Randall, brother Rodney (Karen) Randall of Charlotte and nephews Jason and Adam Randall. She was preceded in death by her father Ion Randall. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Bowman officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Clean Water Action Group of Lansing.

Betty Jean Wright

77, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, December 27, 2001. Mrs. Wright was born August 11, 1924, in Charlotte, the daughter of James and Estella (Ripley) Smith. She had enjoyed bowling, bingo and spending time with her family. She is survived by daughters Joan (Glen) Sinclair of Bellevue, Michigan; Linda (Pat) Dickinson of Vermontville, Michigan; Karen (Keith) McCallum of Olivet, Michigan; sons Jerry Sr. (Myrna) Smith of Bellevue; Ronald Wright Jr. of Lansing; and Fred Wright and his fianc�e Donna of Charlotte; 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and sister Racheal Beard of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Wright Sr. in December 1989, daughter Sharon Wright, daughter-in-law Linda Wright, granddaughters Carrie Dickinson and Tonya Wright. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 7-9 pm Friday.

67 of Charlotte Michigan, died December 29, 2001. Mrs. Mann was born January 4, 1934, the daughter of Harry L. & Irene M. (Blair) Barnard. Barnard Sr. of Charlotte, Marshal B. Barnard, of Charlotte, Dean F. (Donna) Barnard, of California; grandchildren, Tamera Thuma, of Charlotte, Troy (Stacie) Thuma of Wisconsin, Brian Kelley of Royal Oak, Lacey Kelley of Charlotte, Nathan Kelley of Charlotte, Damian Mann of Grand Ledge, Sabrina Mann of Grand Ledge. She was preceded in death by sister Dorene L. Barnard, and brother Harry Jr. Barnard. Funeral services will be 3PM at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Marten Saunders officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dimondale. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-9 PM at the funeral home.

Frances M. Overmyer

86 of Charlotte, Michigan, died December 29, 2001. Mrs. Overmyer was born October 18, 1915, the daughter of Laurits and Amelia A. (Jorgensen) Pedersen. She was a beautician for many years in Charlotte. She is survived by daughters Sally (Butch) Haight and Cheri (Douglas) Smith of Charlotte, Judy Latchaw of Coldwater, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Overmyer in January, 1995 and great great granddaughter Bailey Rae Fletcher. Visitation will be held at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3 at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main Street, Fenneville, Michigan. Interment will be at Fenneville Cemetery in Fenneville. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

Harry Duane Morrison

age 73 of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away December 29, 2001. Mr. Morrison was born October 2, 1928 in Bellevue, Michigan, the son of John and Jennie (Nettleton) Morrison. He retired from Fisher Body in 1986, enjoyed fishing, hunting and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, IdaBelle (Weldon) Morrison, sons Larry (Terry Sue) Morrison, Brian (Kami) Morrison of Charlotte, Keith (Angie) Morrison of Eaton Rapids, daughter Karen (Chris) Miles of Holt, 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Egbert (Ellen) Morrison, Dorothy (Mike) Young, Francis Morrison, Claudia Smith, Janice (Don) Barnett, Sandra (Harry) Smith, Roger (Pat) Morrison, and Sue (Gordon) Bottomley. He was preceded in death by son Douglas Morrison, parents John Morrison and mother Jennie Moist, sister Jeanette Gruhl, and brother Ernest Morrison. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 4 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment will be at Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing. Visitation will be Thursday 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
